Healthy Voice is a concept birthed out of my life coaching work with college students. Many girls I worked with struggled with something I call an Unhealthy Voice. Whether it was perfectionism, addictions, or insecurities they all had a very loud version of this voice. I did too for a long time. In fact, I was about their age when it got bad which is why I’m so passionate about helping women this age.

So one day when I used the phrase “Healthy Voice” with a client, it stuck. I was so moved by it that it felt like I was on a scavenger hunt to find the people, places and things that could help me see what was a Healthy Voice, and what was not.

It was strengthening me enough that no matter how tough life got or how loud the Unhealthy Voice shouted at me, I could still hear my Healthy Voice. So I was inspired to write my first book, “Healthy Voice: Life Beyond the Weight.”  Then it went beyond me and my clients to a national healthy lifestyle corporation that hired me to do a behavior modification program for them. I was honored to share the Healthy Voice concept and was humbled by it’s impact when I heard women tell me at their national conference things like, “Thank you.” “I always knew I had a Healthy Voice.” “I always knew God was there for me, but you showed me.” “You found the missing link.”

It wasn’t me, though. It was all God. God just planted the seed and I became the vessel for His grace. God gave me a way to listen to His voice as I navigated the biggest challenges in life and He enabled me to share it with others. From the moment it was given to me I knew it would be much bigger than me, so I just turned it over to God to do what He wanted to do with it. Sometimes I wanted to get in the way, but God continues to have His way with it. I’m honored to be a channel. To God be the glory.

I believe that this seed was planted because I found a relationship with Jesus Christ. After many years of being lost in addictions beneath the surface trying to maintain the perfect surface, I cracked. I cried out to God and he rescued me. That was 2008. On August 28th, 2010 I was baptized and on August 23rd 2011 my father died suddenly. Each one of these things was a vehicle to bring me closer to God, so I could hear his voice. But I had to meet Jesus, and I had to turn my life over to Christ, because I wanted to, not because I had to. Ever since then, it’s all I’ve wanted to do - get closer and closer to Him, and hear His voice - because He IS my Healthy Voice.

John 10:27 says, “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”

Whatever we’ve been through, whatever we are going through - God is there. Jesus wants us to know that He came to heal our broken hearts. Not only that, while He was still here, he promised the Holy Spirit.

John 14: 15-18 tells us, “If you love me, keep my commands. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another advocate to help you and be with you forever - the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him or knows him. But you know him for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.” Verses 25-27, “All this I have spoken while still with you. But the Advocate, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things and will remind you of everything I said to you. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.”

I share this because I want you to know that the Healthy Voice is none other than the Holy Spirit guiding us in our everyday life - if we choose to hear it. All of us here are on a journey of faith - whether we have a mustard seed or we’ve been following God for years. What matters is that we’re all pursuing Him. Many of us have stories of how He’s transformed our lives, and our hope is that you will want to share them here. Maybe you’ve overcome trials, or pushed past a fear, or you are stepping out in faith. Whatever your story, we have women all over the world, who desperately need to hear it. Women need to know that someone has been there, done that. We are all on this road together and I hope you’ll come to this website or come to know your own Healthy Voice and trust that God loves you and is guiding you on the journey. I hope and pray that Healthy Voice will serve as a complement to wherever God has got you today.
