You Can Have Victory Over Envy

I just noticed that last week's message was on comparison and this week is envy. Must be that time of year! I hope you enjoy today's message and it helps you in some way! Shout out to my friend Tammy Weisweaver (pictured here at the conference yesterday), and here's her barre studio if you want to check it out! (For all you out of towners - she's got online classes too!) B Present.

If you haven't checked it out, go to a class at her studio and see how she shines. Walk through your envy and defeat the lie of the enemy!

Here are a few resources that I mentioned plus 2 songs

"True Confidence has no room for jealousy and envy. When you know you are great, you have no reason to hate." - Unknown

"With envy out of the way you'll have more rom for your own greatness." - Danielle LaPorte #truthbomb

Your verses are:

James 3:16 AMP

"For wherever there is jealousy (envy) and contention (rivalry and selfish ambition) there will also be confusion (unrest, disharmony, rebellion) and all sorts of evil and vile practices."

Hebrews 10:19-25 AMP

A Call to Persevere in Faith

Therefore, brothers and sisters, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and with the full assurance that faith brings, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful. And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.

For some reason this is the song that kept playing in my head when Tammy talked about how we're made to fly and the second one is one I've never heard. What AN AWESOME SONG!!

Why You are MORE than "Good Enough" for God

How often do you feel that sense of "not good enough?" I am sure you've felt it; or thought it recently. "I'm not good enough." "I'm not doing enough." "There isn't enough for me." The list goes on.  It's not a very nice way of talking to ourselves. So let's call it out that Unhealthy Voice and change our perspective. God loves us even when we're in a funk of feeling of "not good enough." No matter what it is we are in a funk about - he still loves us. He stands willing and ready to fill up as only he can - our not enough tank. He wants us to bring all that stuff we feel/think we aren't good enough to Him so he can take care of us.

But this isn't an easy place to get to. We have to make an effort to listen for what God's telling us in regards to that not good enough so we can walk through it with His help. So, here's how it went for me last week.

****

I'm starting off with two songs that helped me during my "not good enough" funk last week. The first one is called "Enough" by Jeremy camp.  No surprise I heard it on the very day I was struggling with that "not good enough." Of course I would! That's how God works....take a listen. It reminded me that HE is enough for me, so much more than all my insecurities.

"All of you is more than enough for all of me for every thirst and every need, you satisfy me, with your love and all I have in you is more than enough."

The second song I also heard multiple times last week. It reminded me that when I'm feeling that "not good enough" gunk ("Hold it all together everybody needs you strong"), God just wants to me to "lay it down and let it go...stop holding on and just be held." "Your world's not falling apart. It's falling into place." They were just some of the words I needed to hear in that place.

Anyway, back to our "not enough." What IS it about that? It's like the human condition where the enemy loves to get us. Even if that hole in our heart has been healed because we've got God, it CAN still come back. The enemy never stops working hard. I think this is especially true for the world that we live in today. Social media makes it so easy for us to compare ourselves and think what we're doing isn't enough or who we ARE isn't enough. We think, "I need to catch up," somehow. It's like a secret shame - behind the news feed - where we think "I'm not good enough." It's amazing how our eyes can so tempt us to believe someone else has it better than us. No one does. We've all got our stuff. I know...

You know what else this whole "not good enough" belief does? It keeps us from giving ourselves permission to BE ourselves. In the process we disregard the gifts God has placed in our laps for us to share with the world. That's exactly what happened with me last week. I was so busy worrying about getting things done, getting a blog posted that I was not seeing what God was trying to tell me - until I was (watch my message video this week and you'll see).

So, these are the verses that were brought to me this week.

1 John 2:16 NLT "For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we SEE, and pride in our achievements and our possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world." I know it's hard, but we have to remember that we find ourselves striving for "good enough" that we may just be craving rewards from the world and if we know Christ we know that these cravings can't satisfy us the way only He can.

138:8 AMP says, "The lord will accomplish that which concerns me; Your [unwavering] loving kindness, O Lord, endures forever - Do not abandon the works of Your own hands." I read that and saw how it is the LORD who will accomplish what concerns me. If I'm wanting to get a message done, HE will take care of it. It's not up to me and my timing.

Ephesians 2:10 says, "For we are God's masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago." Who are we to put ourselves down or the gifts he gives us to share with the world? "We are God's masterpiece!!"

Finally, 2 Corinthians 3:5 NLT, "It is not that we think we are qualified to do anything on our own. Our qualifications come from God." God qualifies us. We don't have to worry about making ourselves qualified to do His work on earth.

So - all that being said, when you got that "I'm not good enough" voice going on, get back to the truth. Get back to the fact that you are good enough for God and HE loves you. That's all that matters in those moments of insecurity. He loves us. PERIOD. End of sentence.

And if you are doing that, "I'll be good enough when _______", just catch yourself and realize you are doing it again and remember, you are good enough. Work towards your goals but remember you are enough in Christ at this very moment.

So with that, check out my message video this week, it's quick and short because I want you to be able to go deeper with yourself on that not good enough voice you've got. Be gentle and receive God's love. Ask for the grace to give yourself a break and see yourself how God sees you, and if you'd like - share with me on social media or here what is your strongest "not good enough" voice. Go ahead, be vulnerable!! Mine is definitely around being a stepmom for one, and my work for another. Really have to be nice to myself on both of those. So, here you go!!

His Power in our BROKENNESS: Message and Resources for the Journey

[Leaving this spot to insert my video this week from Vimeo just a bit stuck in technicalities right now but wanted to get you the resources.]

My first what hopes to be a weekly message video. I hope you refer to it when you need to remember that being broken is the best place for God to start working in your life.

The Resources I'm sharing this week are: 3 Scriptures that I shared in the video, 2 music videos, and a Dual Podcast Series from Focus on the Family that is mainly about perfectionism but really speaks to our brokenness. I love these ladies and their message so I hope you'll check out their interview from earlier this week. I'm also going to add a bonus video at the end. It's one I found when I was finishing this up after doing the message and I think it's just beautiful - brokenness in our marriage for God's glory. I can't stop listening to it. Great for the holiday season coming up when you and your spouse feel distant in all the chaos.

Here are the scriptures I mentioned that may help you to reflect on the message.

Jars Of Clay: "For God, who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," made his light shine in our hearts to give us the light of the knowledge of God's glory displayed in the face of Christ. But we have this treasure in jars of clay to show that this all-surpassing power is from God and not from us." 2 Corinthians 4:6-7, NIV

His Power in Our Weakness: "But he said to me, 'My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.' Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ's power may rest on me."  2 Corinthians 12:9-10, NIV

His Reasons for Our Seasons: "There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:" Ecclesiastes 3:1, NIV (To read further you can go to this passage as it's a little more thorough. I mistakingly referred to Philippians in the video when it was Ecclesiastes. But read it, and it should give you an idea of what season God's taking care of you in right now!)

Here are a few songs that brought me to this message that I recommend you check out:
